How to setup
In this guide, we'll show you how to connect Shopify with Macaw allowing you to publish your articles to your blog in one click.
1) Generate a Shopify API key
Navigate to your Apps and sales channels settings within your Shopify settings and click Develop apps.
Once on this screen you want to click Create an app. Enter an app name, this can be anything but we'd recommend naming it "Macaw" so you can easily identify it.
You will then need to configure the access Macaw will have to your Shopify site. Start by clicking on Configure Admin API scopes.
This will take you to a big list of options. You will need to select write_content
and read_content
, then click Save.
We can narrow down the list of options by searching for Store content
Next you will need to click Install app. You can find this button on the top right, or under the API credentials tab.
Finally, under the API credentials tab you can retrieve the API access token. Click Reveal token once and copy the token to someplace safe for use in the next step.
You will not be able to view this token again, so make sure you have it copied for use in the next step. If for any reason you lose the token, you can start the process again by clicking on the Uninstall app button in the top right.
2) Connect to Shopify
Head to your Publishing connections setup in Macaw and click Connect.
Enter your Shopify store domain and you API access token which we generated in the previous step.
Done! You are now ready to start publishing articles to your Shopify site π
If you want to select which blog to add the articles to, you can do so from this settings screen but by default we will have selected one for you.
